Biden To Go After Facebook, Twitter & Big Tech In Censorship Blitz

President Joe Biden will make “big tech breakup” a priority of his first term. The newly inaugurated President is planning a regulatory onslaught which will transform the tech industry and prove devastating for free speech and internet freedom. Biden will use the storming of Capitol Hill as a prime example of the urgent need for regulation. He’ll blame internet conspiracy theories which were spread on social media by his predecessor and his followers for the unrest. He’ll blame social media for the spread of medical misinformation and anti-vaccine conspiracy theories, that he’ll say puts lives at risk and places the nations recovery from Covid-19 in jeopardy.

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA), gives tech companies immunity from prosecution from what their users post. Joe Biden wants to reform the law and make Facebook, Twitter et al publishers. In an instant, the tech giants would be liable for everything posted on their platforms by users. The implications of that are staggering. If you think you are being censored now, just you wait. You ain’t seen nothing yet. If Biden succeeds, and there’s no reason to doubt he will, you and I will not be permitted to proffer opinions on any issue,  whether it be on politics, health, climate change, gender identity, education, race or religion, unless it parrots the official line of the government, The World Health Organisation or The United Nations.

Biden is likely to appoint an antitrust tsar to oversee the reform. He’s got the support of the European Commission too. It also favours the breakup of big tech firms, although EU Competition Commissioner  Margrethe Vestager has acknowledged that the court cases could go on forever. The recent deletion of Parler, which was done with the complicity of Amazon, Google and Apple, is just the beginning.

It is my contention, something I have been saying for years, that Google, Facebook and Twitter in particular, are Trojan horses. They have been used to essentially “kettle” humanity or get us all in the one place. Why do you think these firms were allowed to ride roughshod over antitrust laws, bribe governments and get away with paying hardly any taxes anywhere in the world for so long? I believe the answer is obvious. The plan was to let a few firms take control of pretty much everything you see and importantly, everything you can and cannot say or do on the internet. Allowing such power to be concentrated in the hands of so few companies makes it so much easier for the censors to regulate. That’s what happened. By hook or by crook Google, Facebook and Twitter wiped out their competition. Now they are sitting ducks and so are we.
