A new study claims that Vitamin C can assist in preventing infection from Covid-19 and also speed up recovery. In other earth shattering news, today is Monday.
A review of a dozen clinical trials will be published in the journal Life this week. According to The Telegraph:
Dr Marcela Vizcaychipi, co-author from the Faculty of Medicine at London’s Imperial College, said it should be standard practice in every hospital to check the vitamin C status of patients and an appropriate dosage should be given to optimise recovery.
“We always need to make sure the basics are covered such as replacement of electrolytes, trace elements and vitamins including vitamin C and D. This should be standard practice,” she said.
The review also suggested that vitamin C could help prevent Covid-19 progressing to a severe illness.
One study in the review, conducted in Shanghai, China, looked at 110 patients with moderate Covid, 55 of whom received a dose of vitamin C dependent on their weight, the other half had standard care.
A third fewer patients progressed to severe illness when given the dose, the study suggested.
The review concluded that randomised control trials and retrospective cohort studies show vitamin C “appears to also support positive outcomes in Covid-19 in both inpatient and outpatient settings, leading to a beneficial effect in patients with moderate symptoms”.

How many times over the years, have we heard from researchers claiming that governments suppress information about the inherent value of vitamins at the behest of big pharma lobbyists?
It would cost next to nothing to ensure that those most vulnerable to respiratory illnesses have access to C, D3 and Zinc. It would save the NHS billions and avert the perennial Winter bed crisis.
I am especially vulnerable to respiratory illnesses. The last time I was seriously ill, it was partly my own fault. I hadn’t been taking my vitamins regularly. I’ve not made the same mistake again. I never miss a day now. Guess what? I haven’t been seriously ill since.
I am a bit chesty (insert joke why don’t ya?) now and have been for a couple of weeks, but the infection cannot get a grip of me. I’m vitamined up the wazoo, that’s why.
This is some about turn. The media has been labelling people who promote taking D3, C and Zinc as conspiracy nuts. So what’s going on? Search me. I can barely keep up.
