County Limerick based GP Dr. Pat Morrissey has refused to deliver coronavirus vaccines to patients and has defiantly stated that he will go to court to head off any attempts to remove him. Dr. Morrissey doesn’t support the Irish government’s lockdown measures and has argued that the vaccines on offer are “untested, unlicensed, and experimental.”
Morrissey has said that he is “not against vaccines” but he has decided not to receive one, nor administer them to his patients, until there is strong evidence that the jabs pose no risks to health in the long term. Patients of The Adare clinic in Limerick can still receive the jab, but Dr. Morrissey himself won’t be injecting anyone.
Despite Ireland’s Health Service Executive (HSE) banning the drug hydroxychloroquine, Morrissey has given it to patients along with zinc and other vitamins. The HSE removed hydroxychloroquine from clinical recommendations last Autumn, stating at the time, that there was no evidence it was effective in Covid patients. “I strongly believe that the therapeutics that I am currently using are a much better alternative than the vaccines,” Dr Morrissey said.
HSE chief executive Paul Reid said recently that healthcare workers who refuse to have a vaccine may be removed from their posts. In response Dr. Morrissey said, “I have a threat against me and my job here now because of what Paul Reid said last week but I will challenge this in the courts.”
The Hippocratic Oath has been described as one of the oldest binding documents in history. It’s certainly one of the most important. Graduating doctors taking the oath promise to “First do no harm.” It would appear that Dr. Pat Morrissey takes the oath seriously.. More power to him. Let’s hope more doctors follow his lead. No self-respecting physician in the world can claim that these vaccines are safe.
