Labour MP Rosie Duffield has threatened to quit the party. Duffield accused party leader Sir Keir Starmer of failing to support her through what she has described as “obsessive harassment” from trans extremists.
According to The Times:
Duffield, Labour’s only MP in Kent, was understood to be speaking to officials after publicly questioning her future in the party. She claimed that senior Labour figures including Starmer had not done “anything at all” to stop a campaign of abuse after she spoke out on transgender rights.
Last year Duffield said that she felt unable to attend the party’s annual conference after she was made to feel unwelcome because of her views on trans women. Duffield, who has always made clear that she is not transphobic, believes there should be protected spaces that are not open to those born male.
Yesterday, a Labour Party member accused Duffield of abandoning her constituency by moving 200 miles to Wrexham, to be with her boyfriend. He’s a documentary filmmaker.
Duffield posted a blog in which she explained her living arrangements. In it she said:
“I am aware of yet more personal, libellous, nasty and fictional crap being published about me. All published/written by ex and current Labour members who are clearly absolutely obsessed by my private life for some reason.
It is obsessive harassment. Neither the Labour Party or either the former or current leader or the whips’ office have done anything at all to stop it, to offer me any support, help or legal assistance.”
What’s wrong with Rosie Duffield? Why can’t she just accept that women can have penises and that men can menstruate? Life would be much easier for her if she did.
