Pharma giant Moderna wants thousands of volunteers in the UK to take part in a trial for a new covid jab. Moderna has developed a vaccine tailored to the so-called omicron variant. According to SKY News science reporter Thomas Moore:
Around 3,000 people will take part, with half receiving a dose of Moderna’s current booster and the rest the biotech company’s new jab containing genetic material for the Omicron variant.
The clinical trial, led by a team at St George’s Hospital in London, will start later this week. Up to 29 hospitals in England, Scotland and Wales are expected to take part.
Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said: “The UK is a world leader when it comes to the research and development of vaccines and medicines, bolstered by our renowned life-sciences industry. “I want this country to be the best place in the world to launch clinical trials.
“I urge anyone eligible to take part in this vital research and play their part in protecting the country for years to come as we learn to live with COVID-19.”
Moderna is currently trialling its omicron jab in the states. Pfizer is working on its own jab for the variant.
In a recent interview with SKY News, Moderna’s chief medical officer said a booster will be available this coming Autumn, that will protect against the Delta and omicron variants.
You don’t need a medical degree to know that vaccines against delta and omicron are completely unnecessary.
If we believe the government’s scientific advisers (and I don’t as it happens) delta has been around for more than a year and omicron has ripped through the country with little effect on deaths or hospitalisations.
Therefore, it can be argued, most people will have antibodies, or T cell immunity and won’t need a jab.
And, if we believe the scientists (and I don’t as it happens), by Autumn, covid will have mutated again and omicron/delta jabs will be redundant, right?
Covid-19 is long gone, whatever it was. You don’t need booster jabs. You don’t need jabs period and you certainly do not need to play Russian Roulette for Moderna.
