The President of The Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, has come up with a novel way of dealing with the country’s covid vaccine refuseniks. During his latest ‘Talk to the People” address yesterday, Duterte said:
“I know many people are still hesitant. So find them in your barangays (neighbourhoods). Let’s enter their homes and vaccinate them while they are asleep. End of story!
Was he joking? Possibly not. Back in June the outgoing President stated that refuseniks should either be exiled or jailed and forced to have the jab. He said then:
“If you don’t want to get vaccinated, leave the Philippines. Go to India if you want, or somewhere to America. But for as long as you are here and you are a human being and can carry the virus, you should get vaccinated.
If you don’t want to get vaccinated, I’ll have you arrested [and] then I’ll inject a vaccine into your buttocks.”
