Prince William was out and about in London this morning, on Royal Family business. As he left a school in Stratford alongside his wife, he was asked by a reporter if his family is racist. “We’re very much not a racist family,” he replied.
Asked had he spoken to his brother since the Oprah interview William said; “No I haven’t spoken to him yet, but I will do.”
That’ll be a fun zoom call. Hang on a minute. The Royal family are not racist? Really? Someone tell Wills that his granddaddy is still alive and kicking in his hospital room in South London. And he is a bona fide racist.
On a royal visit to China, the Duke of Edinburgh remarked to a group of British students; “if you stay here much longer you’ll all be slitty-eyed.”
While in Kenya, a local woman gave him a hand-made gift. Philip said; “You are a woman aren’t you?”
He once asked an Aboriginal; “Are you people still chucking spears at one another?”
In a factory in Scotland, he pointed at a shoddy fuse box and said; “It looks like it was put in by an Indian.”
Three of his sisters married Nazi’s and Philip attended the funeral of his sister Cecile, who was killed in a plane crash. He was infamously pictured surrounded by Nazi’s in the procession. This was 1937. He knew what these people were and what they were doing to Jews, but he didn’t mind.
His sister Sophie was so enamoured of The Third Reich, she named her first son Karl Adolf, in honour of Hitler.
Speaking to the German press in 1988, Philip said; “In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.” Maybe he meant vaccine, not virus. Who knows?
Irony of ironies of course is that his grandson Harry is a chip off the old block. Who can forget the pictures of him wearing a uniform with the swastika armband?
So while the term racist is bandied about far too frequently these days and has been weaponised by special interest groups, it is ridiculous for William to say his family is “very much not racist.”
