Today is International Women’s Day. I’m confused. Should I have ordered flowers? Will my missus be pissed? Does she even know that today is International Women’s Day and if she does, has she made plans?
(Brief pause while I shout “Did you know that today is International Women’s Day?” at herself).
Shit. She did know, but only because today is also her mother’s birthday. Fuck. I forgot to send flowers to Monique. Her mother’s name is Monique. She’s well fit.
Now then. Talk Radio presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer said this morning, that she’s fed up of women being portrayed as eternal victims of men. She blamed the media for this, saying that women and girls being are programmed to believe that they are vulnerable and therefore need protecting.
There have been calls to make misogyny a hate crime and for men who cat-call or wolf whistle at women to be arrested. It’s madness of course.
Julia Hartley-Brewer was interviewing Baroness Jenkin. It was an interesting exchange. I’ve broached this subject often on The Richie Allen Show.
I’ve spoken and written at length about how elites declare groups (or communities as they call them) to be vulnerable in order to disempower them. It’s a little bit more complicated than that. It is about giving the state more control over us individually and collectively, but it’s also about free speech, self-censorship and thought policing.
Here’s the interview:
Julia and Tory peer Baroness Jenkin clash on International Women's Day over 51% of the population being seen as "victims".
Baroness Jenkin: "We have additional pressures that men don't have."
Julia: "I'm so fed up of women pretending we're victims."@JuliaHB1 | @Baronessjenkin pic.twitter.com/pFr4A2OiTs
