Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has been targeted by social media trolls and the tabloid press for sharing a tweet that criticised the media coverage of the war in Ukraine.
The Twitter account @UnityNewsNet tweeted a picture of Ukrainian President Zelensky visiting Bucha, the scene of alleged war crimes by Russian soldiers.
It was captioned:
The media lied about weapons of mass destruction.
The media lied about Covid
The media lied about the Hunter Biden laptop.
But honestly, they are telling the truth about Bucha!
Le Tissier retweeted it, simply saying, “this,” implying that he agreed with Unity News.
But, why wouldn’t he? Every line of the original Tweet is irrefutable. Not only did the UK press lie about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, they later apologised for failing to hold Tony Blair’s labour government to account for it.
Not only has the media repeatedly lied about Covid, it has marginalised doctors and scientists who didn’t stick to the script.
The media has worked to destroy the careers of healthcare professionals for not toeing the line and refusing to support lockdowns and dangerous jabs.
There has been zero balance in the UK media coverage of Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky’s government makes hourly allegations of war crimes against Russia. Rather than attempt to verify the claims independently, the media simply repeats them.
Zelensky said that Russian tanks were mowing down civilians “for pleasure” and nobody asked him for any evidence.
I am not saying that this didn’t happen. I couldn’t possibly know that, but as a journalist I want proof.
Sadly, after the mob rounded on Le Tissier, he deleted his Tweet. His next post read:
“Deleted previous tweet as people as usual missing the point, the point was about the media manipulation but you knew that really..”
Ah Matt, never EVER give in to them. That way lies the death of free speech.
