Twitter Piles On John Fashanu After Ex-Footballer Calls For Respect For Qatar

Twitter went into meltdown this morning after the former Wimbledon striker John Fashanu said that people should respect Qatar and adhere to the rules and regulations of the country.

Fashanu’s brother Justin committed suicide in 1988. He had been accused of assaulting a 17 year-old boy in the US. He fled to London where he took his own life.

In his suicide note he claimed that he wouldn’t get a fair trial due to his homosexuality.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain today, Fashanu criticised the One Love armband, which has been banned by FIFA and said of Qatar:

“Whatever the rules and regulations are of that country, adhere to them. Some of them might be good, some of them might be bad but respect the country.”

Twitter went into overdrive. Fashanu is evil. How dare he after what happened to his brother!

Fashanu is right. The World Cup is in Qatar. Tough shit Paddy. The decision to award the country with the World Cup was ludicrous. Of course it was.

Don’t blame Qatar for that.

Don’t waste your breath lecturing them on LGBT rights. They don’t care.

They’re Muslims. They think homosexuality is an abomination.

You’ll never change their minds and you have no right to.
