The White House has accused former President Donald Trump of antisemitism after Trump criticised US Jews for not supporting him. Trump claimed that he had done more for Israel than any other President in history.
According to The Times:
In a post on Truth Social, his social media platform, Trump expressed frustration that the Jewish community did not back him more strongly and drew a distinction between Israelis and US Jews, who he said needed to “get their act together”.
“No president has done more for Israel than I have,” Trump said. “Somewhat surprisingly, however, our wonderful Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the US.
“Those living in Israel, though, are a different story — Highest approval rating in the World, could easily be PM! US Jews have to get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel — Before it is too late!”
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, told reporters: “Donald Trump’s comments were antisemitic, as you all know, and insulting both to Jews and to our Israeli allies.” She continued: “Let’s be clear . . . for years now Donald Trump has aligned with extremists and antisemitic figures, and it should be called out.”
Trump is right. No President in history has sucked up to the apartheid state of Israel as much as him. In 2017 it was Trump who reversed decades of government policy by declaring that the US would recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
He then ordered the US embassy to relocate from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
But Jews don’t speak with one voice. I know many Jewish people who are vehemently opposed to the blockade of Palestine and the genocide of the Palestinian people.
I know Jewish people who do not recognise the legitimacy of the state of Israel.
You’ll never hear those voices on the BBC or SKY.
But come on, Trump, antisemitic? Please!
