For the second time this week, a Labour Party front-bencher shat themselves when asked to define what a woman is. Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was asked for her definition, during an appearance on Times Radio yesterday.
According to The Times:
The shadow home secretary refused three times to spell out a definition after JK Rowling, the author and former Labour donor, criticised the party’s stance on transgender rights.
Asked what a woman was, Cooper told Times Radio: “I think people get themselves down rabbit holes on this one. I think let’s just celebrate International Women’s Day and amazing women all over the country, amazing women all over the world, but also challenge inequalities and say what it is we need to be doing for the future.”
Asked whether she was confident about what a woman was, Cooper replied: “Yeah, but I’m not going to get into rabbit holes on this. Why are we all getting ourselves tangled up?”
Rabbit holes? Tangled up? The answer is simple. Adult female human being. Has ovaries. Has a womb. Bears children. It’s not that complicated really.
When she was asked for the third time, Cooper said:
“As you can see I’m avoiding going down rabbit holes because I just think this is pointless. I think we had a great celebration of International Women’s Day, I think there’s still all kinds of inequalities, I think we still see problems around violence against women and girls where there needs to be action.”
Jaysus….
Earlier this week, Cooper’s mate Anneliese Dodds, ironically the shadow minister for women and equalities, appeared on the BBC’s Women’s Hour radio show. She too was asked to define woman. She said:
“I think it does depend what the context is, surely. You know, there are people who have decided that they have to make that transition. Because they live as a woman, they want to be defined as a woman.”
Oh go and fuck off Dodds, you coward. It doesn’t matter how someone has chosen to live or as what. Women bear children. There’s your definition.
